So a bit more drama this week - I'm going home early! It's not because of a serious reason but I just decided this little job in Okinawa is not worth missing two weeks of school for, especially when I need my grades for grad school. That added a bit of drama to my life though because it involved money, and some time spent buying plane tickets to Hong Kong for 3 days so I can get my adult ID card.
Since this is a blog meant to detail my travels though, I'm not going to elaborate on what drama actually occurred though because that's more related to personal life. Let's just say though - to give myself a little reminder - I got a bit low again due to reasons involving spending my parents money and feeling like and idiot.
But you may be wondering what happened after the roomie drama? Nothing, I just learned that said new roomie talks way too much and does not know how to shut up. We have a custom of putting our days off on a calendar and we invited new roomie to do the same thing, then I mentioned that Obon was coming up sometime (in which I had no days off to enjoy the matsuri that comes along with it - 3 times in Japan and I have yet to ever go to a proper matsuri, what is this?) and roomie goes on a long schpiel about Obon, when it is etc. even though I'm clearly not interested. The way she speaks also has this very condescending know-it-all sort of tone, where she'll constantly be like "oh, but you know x, y, and z blah blah blah". Anyway, somehow this got in to her needing to renew her work holiday visa, issues she had with immigration (I escaped at this point and sadly left one of my roomies to fend for herself), and then somehow after that, for the next two hours at least she apparently decided to dish out her entire life story to two of my roomies (the ones she shared a room with) even though no one was interested.
I have honestly never heard anyone, aside from a professor, speak for 3 hours straight, but she did. She didn't even stop to let others join in on her conversation, she was literally just talking for the sake of talking. It was amazing and makes me realize that I prefer it when she just kept her mouth shut. I had a few more tastes of her endless talking a couple more times, but more often than not, I'm glad that I just see her legs.
I had another day of this week on the 4th of August and was supposed to go kayaking. It didn't work out, instead went out for a drive with three other foreigners. We went to Ikejima, and random places, ate a little obaa-chan's food stall. It was a pretty nice day overall, nice and relaxed, and I didn't spend much money (good!) because I only have about $98 left at this point (9800yen).
I mean there's not much to say about my drive. We got to feed a horse carrots, and look at nice views, and place on a playground for a bit. I was on my first day of my period and had some annoying cramps so the first part of the drive I wasn't all that happy.
I actually also had another day off today, in which I went to Naha with a roomie. The traffic was terrible and it took us forever. We were supposed to go to a nice cafe, couldn't find anything, weather was kind of shitty, but I was just glad I went out. I didn't feel like staying cooped up inside. Also new-roomie went to Naha as well, she didn't go with us (thank god, could not have stood the 2-3hrs we spent in a car with her talking my ear off).
I wish I could say more about this week, but work has hit a steady pace and my holidays really aren't anything big to note. Perhaps next week I'll have more interesting tales to speak of.
