Destination 2 of my 14 day family cruise with Holland America to Northwestern Europe is three ports in Iceland!
What can I say? Iceland is a pretty cool place. It's very different from anywhere else I've been, and I imagine it's sort of what the Canadian tundra would look like.... if the Canadian tundra was built on years and years of volcanic rock? So really, what I'm trying to say is, there is really no place I can compare Iceland to but itself, and it is a very interesting place. There were lots of cool rock formations covered in grass and other small foliage, along with what I liked to call "tiny Christmas trees". Geysers. Hot springs. And you really got the sense that this was indeed a very small country with a very small population.
Also. Damn. This place is expensive. Let's get started, shall we?

Eurotrip 2018 - Scotland (Edinburgh and Inverness)
Hello, I'm back.
I've actually gone on a few trips since my last post - my biggest one was a trip to Northern Spain which I apparently never wrote about. The sad thing is I created all the posts ahead of time and then just... never wrote them, so that trip will never be remembered properly. Instead, I have come to share my latest trip I took which was a family cruise to Northwestern Europe on the Holland America cruise line.
My trip started in Toronto (which is where I have since relocated). I met up with my parents at YYZ and we took the flight together from Toronto to Amsterdam, which was where out boat was leaving from. We left on the evening of August 4th and arrived the morning of August 5th in Amsterdam where we also met up with my brother who had arrived a week earlier. We got on the boat at around 1pm, and the boat officially set sail at 5pm.

Adventures from JET
I haven't posted here in a while, and that's because after my last trip in Europe, I graduated, went off to JET and started a JET blog to write about all the things I did while on JET. That included all the trips I went on.
I don't want to copy all my posts here because I'm lazy, and there are actually quite a few posts I need to make, but for the sake of organization and just being able to keep stuff together, you can check out the places I went to during my year in Japan (2015-2016).
I'll also be going on another Europe trip again soon, so new posts! Yay!
Oct 2015 - Nikko [Day 1 / Day 2]
Mar 2016 - Taipei, Taiwan [Day 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5-8]

Eurotrip 2014 - Berlin/LHR/Montreal [day 14/14]
Would you look at that, finally getting this out and posted. Part of the reason this post took so long is because it really has very little to do with going around a city or sight-seeing and everything to do with my overall flying experience - which is really quite boring when you think about it. Or, it would have been boring and I would have avoided even writing about it if not for one slight little mishap that occurred in LHR.
But without further ado.
Here it is - the final post to my short, but sweet (and mildly exhausting) trip in Europe with the family to end off 2014 (and hello to 2015).

Eurotrip 2014 - Berlin [day 13/14]
New Years Eve!
Huzzah!
Good bye 2014!
But, before that, when I woke up this morning there was still a good 19 hours before the clock would hit midnight and the fireworks would go off. If you can do your math, than you've probably figured out that meant I must've woken up at around 4:00AM. I did. My friend had a bit of an emergency that night that required waking up, cleaning bedsheets, and acquiring from medicine from my parents for stomach pains--I think you can connect the dots. I did manage to fall asleep after that event, and I believe I didn't wake up until 9AM that day, but it was another day where I felt mildly exhausted throughout. For many reasons--but this one being the first reason.

Eurotrip 2014 - Berlin [day 12/14]
The day started bright and early--much, much too early. My dad can be occasionally very frustrating to travel with. Very occasionally. He likes to relax, but he also likes to get up early and do things as soon as possible and thus, I found myself being woken up by him at 8:00AM.

Eurotrip 2014 - Berlin [day 11/14]
Day one of Berlin and boy did this day start out early (and therefore exhausting).
So, I actually have a friend in Germany at the moment living in Heidelburg, and when I told her I would be visiting Berlin for a bit we thought about meeting up--after all, what are the chances we will see each other again? She's also quite familiar with my family, being a friend from way back in those old elementary school days, so my family offered to let her stay at the airbnb apartment we were staying at and join us for our short 3 days in Berlin.
